Role Definition
The Revenue Manager will be responsible for providing corporate-wide revenue recognition accounting, reporting, and related internal controls. This position is focused on software and services revenue recognition. The revenue manager will also play a key role in contract review/negotiations, revenue recognition training, and the revenue forecasting process. The ideal candidate must enjoy working in a growing, fast-paced environment. This position reports to VP Finance â€" Group Controller.
Responsibilities
- Point of contact for all revenue recognition matters relating to the Company
- Work with Sales, Sales Operations and Legal during contract negotiations
- Review revenue related contracts for compliance with revenue recognition guidelines, ASC 985-605 (f/k/a SOP 97-2), ASC 605-25 (f/k/a EITF 00-21), and ASU 2009-13 (f/k/a EITF 081-1) and determine appropriate treatment
- Maintain documentation for all review and compliance work completed
- Lead training on revenue recognition rules, policies and practices within the Company, and in particular within the Sales organization
- Participate and assist in forecasting the Company's recognized revenue
- Revenue reporting and analysis as needed
- Prepare audit schedules, provide analysis, and work with external auditors as needed
- Seek to continuously improve current process and procedures
- Ad-Hoc revenue projects as required
Qualifications
- CPA preferred
- Combination of public accounting & recent experience (in a revenue recognition role) at a public software company is preferred
- In-depth knowledge of ASC 985-605 (f/k/a SOP 97-2), ASC 605-25 (f/k/a EITF 00-21), and ASU 2009-13 (f/k/a EITF 08-1) principles
- Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to articulate verbally and written, willingness to appropriately debate difficult issues; ability to think quickly and present to an audience
- Ability to work in dynamic, fast paced, fast growing company where adaptability is imperative
- Ability to build relationships with new and existing executives across functions
- Ability to quickly grasp company operations and business drivers
- Strong MS Excel and MS PowerPoint skills highly desirable
- Bachelor's degree
- 5 to 7+ years of financial experience with relevant revenue recognition experience require
