As the Revenue Recognition Specialist, you will help guide the accounting team and management in appropriately applying U.S. GAAP revenue recognition standards to complex transactions that involve multiple deliverables as well as non-monetary transactions. The ideal candidate has a passion for complex revenue recognition accounting and has the ability to independently identify, research and conclude on complicated revenue recognition issues and present to Senior Management.
Primary Responsibilities include:
Monitor pricing to substantiate VSOE, TPE or BESP
Analyze customer contracts to identify and appropriately account for bundled arrangements
Identify, manage and determine appropriate treatment for all non-monetary transactions
Review invoices to ensure terms and pricing match the customer contracts
Review/prepare revenue recognition policies that adhere to U.S. GAAP
Write technical accounting memos that support revenue recognition positions
Advise Senior Management, Accounting, and Business Operations of expected updates to current revenue recognition rules
Respond to audit questions regarding revenue recognition issues
Assist in the month end close process
Draft revenue footnotes and MD&A for external financial statements
Review and reconcile reports received from third parties that drive revenue recognition
Identify inefficiencies and streamline current processes
Complete ad hoc projects as necessary
Closely work with Business Operations and Account Managers to ensure proper audit documentation is maintained
Skills and Qualifications
CPA license required
5 plus years of public accounting experience with a regional or Big Four accounting firm
2 plus years of industry experience in a publically traded software and/or data company
Proficient with Microsoft excel
Exceptional accounting research skills
Excellent organizational skills
Superb written and verbal communication skills
