RF/Satellite Engineer SeaMobile

GENERAL PURPOSE: Under general supervision, provides technical expertise in
support of engineering activities related to Satellite and RF communications. Sets
standards and creates procedures and training materials to be followed by RF and Data
technicians. Manages satellite link budget process and develops new RF/Satellite based
products and systems. Analyzes existing systems and procedures and proposes
improvements to streamline and enhance the functionality and serviceability of MTNs
satellite network.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conducts tests and reviews new and emerging technologies
Performs professional engineering work relating to one or more of the following:
satellite communications, RF, electronics, microwave, TCP/IP over satellite, or
miscellaneous telecommunications hardware equipment assignments.
Maintains satellite and antenna database and creates link budgets.
Tests and certifies new RF equipment to be used on the MTN network.
Assists with VoIP, TCP/IP, TDMA, and Satellite integration issues.
Serves as 3rd level support for Data and RF technicians on RF related issues.
Prepares procedures and training materials for RF and Data technicians.
Makes technical recommendations and creates standard RF equipment list templates.
Prepares professional drawings and diagrams for internal documentation and for
customer presentations.
Assists sales personnel in responding to RFPs and evaluating the customers business
process and requirements.
Meets with customers on installation/configuration activities.
Assists in the development of technical proposals and white papers.
Other related tasks as may be assigned.
NATURE OF WORK CONTACTS: Network Engineers, Data Technicians, RF
Technicians, Sales Engineers, Account Executives, and Customers.
TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelors degree in Electrical or Electronic
Engineering (EE), Electronic Engineering Technical (EET), or the equivalent experience
of 2-3 years. A strong understanding of all company products/services is required.
PHYSICAL/SENSORY DEMANDS: Must be able to use desktop & Notebook
computers. Should be able to withstand shipboard environments. Should be able to lift
up to 50lbs. Some travel may be required.
