THIS JOB HAS EXPIRED Etsy is seeking a Risk Agent to join our Trust and Safety Team Etsy is a marketplace for members to connect and exchange handmade items, vintage good and crafting supplies. Etsy's Trust and Safety Team is a multi-disciplinary team charged with ensuring the quality and integrity of the site, mediating disputes, and represent chargebacks. We are seeking a Risk Agent to enhance Etsy's Risk Operations group within the Trust and Safety Team.
About the team
Trust and Safety protects the quality of Etsy's expanding marketplace by communicating and enforcing policies to ensure that shop owners follow Etsy's criteria for what can be sold on our site. We maintain a safe buying and selling environment by effectively enforcing buyer and seller protection policies, reviewing transaction disputes and providing exceptional support after difficult customer experiences. Agents are passionate about preventing violations of policy, improving user experience, and work well in a fast-paced, cross functional, and team oriented environment while demonstrating the ability to get things done in ambiguous situations.
About the position:
Risk Agents are charged with safeguarding Etsy and its community from financial harm. On a daily basis, Risk Agents protect Etsy by conducting transaction reviews and vetting prospective and existing sellers for credit risk. In addition, Agents will analyze larger activity patterns to develop and modify fraud detection rules and systems. This is a cross-disciplinary position that requires Agents to possess exceptional judgment, well-developed critical thinking and communication skills, and the ability to operate in ambiguous and unfamiliar situations.
Because of the sensitive nature of this position, candidates must pass background check prior to appointment
Evaluate high risk transactions for potential fraud; research past activity; collect information from online and offline sources, and directly from customers
Vet new and existing sellers for credit risk; identify unusual system-wide activity including collusion fraud and potential money laundering
Conduct investigations and collect information from a wide variety of sources including open sources, databases and banks
Participate in criminal investigations as needed
Identify trends and make recommendations for changes to rules and systems

Ideally you have:
Experience analyzing merchant credit risk-experience with multiple areas preferred
Familiarity with a marketplace business
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to maintain professional relationships with internal departments and outside agencies
Well-developed analytical and critical thinking skills
Demonstrated judgment in ambiguous situations
Demonstrated experience communicating directly with customers
Submit to and pass a background check
Bachelor's degree strongly preferred
