The Risk Data Analyst plays a critical role in the support of analysis and monitoring for loss, fraud and account misuse during seasonal tax programs. Analytical demands include support of standard reporting delivery and manual manipulation of data extracts into standardized reports for monitoring programs. This role will work to directly support the functions of the Risk Analytics team.
Data analysis: Provide reporting support for actionable insights and solutions to support business needs;
Provide basic summaries, descriptive statistics and graphical presentations of data sets
Identify trends, patterns, rules associated with financial fraud and abuse (including, but not limited to:
account compromise and exiting of funds,
fraudulent account creation and
unauthorized debiting to create loss or negative account balances.
Provide reporting and analysis of regulatory compliance for internal and external auditors and partners, as well as, adherence to internal policies and controls.
Generate reporting and analysis to provide baseline levels of customer behavior and set upper and lower bounds to indicate suspicious or fraudulent behavior.
Develop ad hoc reporting to answer immediate business needs.
Interface with NetSpend business owners to validate business requirements, share knowledge, manage expectations related to changes in policy, process, procedure or requests for analysis.
Foster healthy business relationships across all teams, channels, departments and business segments.
Bachelor degree in Math, Finance, Marketing, or related field; Master's Degree in Statistics, Economics or other quantitative majors is a plus
2-3 years of experience working as a data analyst. Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word and Power Point), especially creating summary tables, charts and pivot tables with Excel
Basic understanding of relational databases and able to construct basic select statements from relational database via SQL code (Oracle)
Experience in credit or banking industry a plus
Able to work with little direct supervision once ownership of a project or task has been assigned
Able to execute multiple analytic projects at high level of quality on tight business timetable
Able to work effectively on cross-functional business team composed of people with diverse backgrounds, some of whom are non-technical
Strong presentation development and writing skills (e.g. proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word)
