Ruby on Rails Developer Gazelle
We're expanding our team of creative, passionate Ruby on Rails programmers to help us build our product and scale up our systems to support a rapidly growing business.We don't require ninjas, rock stars, pirates, robots, zombies or unicorns. We want programmers who love coding and want to help build an awesome web site that will make our customers' day.
Our team is very collaborative, working directly with QA and our stakeholders at all stages of the development process. We develop on Macs and Linux, deploy on Ubuntu, scale on EC2 and use open-source tools. We write automated tests for everything we build using RSpec, Cucumber, and Selenium. We constantly review and improve our process and our code.
Responsibilities
- write well-tested, readable, reusable Ruby, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS
- work with QA to plan and execute testing of new features
- work with stakeholders to ensure completeness and correctness of features
- participate in task/feature estimation
- collaborate on system architecture
- provide technical feedback to aid in gathering of requirements
- participate in knowledge-sharing code reviews
- participate in the system-support backup rotation
Qualifications
- experience writing unit and functional tests
- experience building and maintaining web applications
- experience writing code with Ruby/Rails
- experience with agile development (Scrum, Kanban, XP, etc.)
Bonus Points
- strong Rails performance skills (load testing, optimization, etc.)
- strong MySQL skills (scaling, tuning, sharding, etc.)
- strong front-end skills (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
- strong deployment/build automation skills (EC2, Chef, RightScale, Integrity)
