SaaS Capacity Lead Jive Software
We are seeking a highly motivated Saas Capacity Lead to join the Capacity and Performance team. The Capacity and Performance team works closely with members of Hosting Architecture, Hosting Operations, Engineering and Support teams to ensure the appropriate capacity is in place to meet and exceed our scaling demands in multiple data centers throughout the world.Work in a challenging, dynamic technical environment on a team that is responsible for developing growth models for scaling, managing and reporting on trends, identifying problem areas and assisting in development of remediation plans and recommendations to optimize the environment and customer installations. Primary responsibilities of this role include managing and reporting capacity for hosted environments, working with other key team members to design and optimize performance of our largest and most complex hosted communities, and develop and manage projections of hardware and facilities needs in our data centers.
Jive's environment is a rapidly growing, highly virtualized, multi-tier architecture. The position requires an individual with a strong overall knowledge of IT logical and technical architecture principles but with a particular focus on scalable and robust virtualized environments.
Responsibilities:
Define and implement capacity and performance analysis and reporting requirements
Model capacity forecasts using systems and business metrics determined in collaboration with business and product development teams
Analyze capacity and performance trends to identify potential performance and/or capacity bottlenecks
Meet regularly with business partners to ensure short and long terms plans are in place to support capacity needs
Define requirements for and publish reports on critical performance/capacity metrics
Manage and update capacity tools and models as needed to support changes in business requirements
Work closely with team members throughout the organization to diagnose issues and develop recommendations for performance improvements
Provide training and documentation on capacity and performance optimization
Requirements:
A BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering and/or equivalent experience
5 - 7 + years of demonstrated technical experience in a large distributed environment
3+ years experience with capacity/performance planning in a virtualized environment
Strong understanding of virtualization and storage technologies (VMware and NetApp preferred)
Strong organizational and time management skills
Experience with monitoring tools (Zenoss, OnCommand)
Experience with scripting languages (Perl, Python, Ruby, SQL)
Excellent written and oral skills
