SAFETY OFFICER XCOR Aerospace

OVERVIEW
XCOR seeks an experienced safety officer who has worked extensively in safety-of-life working environments. You will be responsible for working with a management team to implement effective space, aviation and ground accident prevention programs and implementing practices that conform to multiple agency requirements such as: OSHA, DOD, DOT and FAA rules, regulations and practices. The position requires knowledge and skill in the operation or maintenance of space systems, aviation systems, aircraft and/or aircraft systems. Also a bachelors degree in engineering with 3-7 years of experience a must. Completion of a Civilian or Military course for ground/aviation safety or risk management a plus. If you have any experience in the process followed by FAA/AST for the licensing of launch vehicles or space ports, this is a significant factor and should be mentioned in your response to this advertisement.
You will be responsible for working within a safety team to create and ensure effective accident prevention programs and implementing appropriate risk management processes. The safety engineer will help to develop, administer, and enforce regulations and standards concerning aviation and rocket operations safety, including (1) the airworthiness of space vehicles, aircraft, and aircraft systems, (2) help assess the competence of pilots, mechanics, and other personnel, and (3) help develop and implement safety aspects for rocket engines, aviation and space launch facilities, support equipment and related monitoring and reporting procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in an engineering or equivalent discipline.
Must have a minimum of three (3) to seven (7) years experience in civil or military safety-related positions showing some progression in competence and responsibility
Excellent written and spoken skills.
Experience in civilian or military safety programs, policies and/or investigations (both ground and air or space).
REQUIREMENTS ?
Must be 18 years or older.
Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and climb a 30? ladder.
Must be a U.S. citizen or hold Resident Alien status (aka Green Card).
Must be proficient in spoken and written standard American English.
References required and will be checked. Background check will be performed.
MISCELLANEOUS ?
Employee will have ?on the job training? in Mojave, CA through mid-2013, after which the position will relocate to the new R & D Headquarters in Midland, TX. The specific date of the Midland move is to be determined.
