Bauer's Intelligent Transportation is currently seeking a Safety and Training Manager with experience working in the ground transportation industry for our Los Angeles, California location. The Safety and Training Manager will be responsible for training Bauer's Chauffeurs according to state, federal, DMV, DOT and company guidelines; providing ongoing training and performance evaluations for all Chauffeurs; supervising the safety program, including new hire orientations, driver training, monthly safety meetings and the accident review committee; as well as performing Chauffuer training upgrades in conjunction with Human Resources, Operations Managers, Maintenance Supervisors, Site Supervisors, and/or the General Manager.
General Job Requirement
High school diploma or equivalent required, some college including education/training transportation courses preferred
College Degree in Transportation, Business Management, Education or other related field very desirable
7 or more years of Driver training and/or Driver safety experience
California CDL with Passenger and Air Brake endorsements required
Must possess or have the ability to acquire and maintain Third Party Tester status for Commercial Drivers License as required by the California Department of Vehicles and all other applicable regulatory agencies
Innovative classroom training skills with working knowledge of adult training techniques and experience a very strong plus
Strong working knowledge of MS Office Software (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.) and transportation related software including Livery Coach and E-Fleet
Compliance with state, federal and all DOT regulations and requirements
Experience with Safety Evaluations, Safety Records, and Training Records
Strong background in Safety Compliance & Programs
Ability to use good judgment and decision making skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong leadership skills and interpersonal skills
Strong organizational and group presentation skills
Proven ability to conduct all activities in accordance with the highest moral and ethical standards
Above standard driving performance for the past 10 years
Must be able to pass a pre-offer drug test, criminal background check and prior employment verification
Position will require periodic drug and alcohol testing
Additional Responsibilities Include
Develop and conduct regularly scheduled Chauffeur Safety Meetings; to include Safety & Driver Training Programs for all Chauffeurs.
Work with Human Resources to identify and develop Chauffeurs who demonstrate potential to work as Training Assistants and/or Road Supervisors.
Assist the Director of Fleet Operations in reviewing accidents and sit on the Customer Service and Safety Committee.
Initiate Chauffuer retraining according to current company guidelines with recommendations to advance company policy as it relates to all Chauffeur safety training.
Document and maintain all training records as required by State and Federal and DOT regulations and company policies.
Investigate customer service complaints as it relates to safety issues and take corrective action to remedy concern.
Evaluate the performance of all direct-report personnel on a regular basis according to company policy.
