Description: BioMedix is a developer, manufacturer, and worldwide distributor of vascular diagnostic devices and software solutions. BioMedix currently has an immediate opening for a Sales and Use Tax Consultant.
Assignment Duration: Contract need is estimated to be a minimum of 6-weeks.
Responsibilities:
Reconciling data from the Sales System to the General Ledger
Prepare and manage documentation regarding taxability of each of the company?s products and services
Research state tax laws and regulations to support taxability determinations
Timely preparation of Sales & Use Tax filings
Preparing and filing of all state sales/use tax returns including payment requests: wire and check request creation
Update, maintain and audit the Sales & Use Tax database and procedures
Maintain state binders and other files to ensure appropriate documentation
Working with taxing authorities as needed
Performing in-depth monthly account analysis of tax related General Ledger accounts
Handling requests for information, documentation or analysis from various sources
Correspond with state and local tax authorities to resolve notices and inquiries
Research applicability of sales and use tax on a multi-jurisdiction basis
Research applicability of sales tax exemptions at state and local level
Respond to customer and vendor related sales tax queries
Work directly with other departments to coordinate gathering of information necessary for compliance and other projects
Other duties as requested or assigned
Requirements:
Bachelor?s degree in Accounting and/or Finance or equivalent business related field
Four to seven years multi-state sales and use tax and property tax experience
Strong experience in general ledger accounting with a proficiency in analyzing and reconciling accounts and preparing journal entries
Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and written and verbal communication skills and the ability to meet deadlines
Knowledge of Great Plains is a plus
Ability to work effectively as part of a team as well as function with independent responsibilities
