Position Summary
The Sales Director will be responsible for identifying, prospecting and securing media placement contracts with NEW ACCOUNTS defined as national consumer and business to business product and service advertisers. Sales initiatives will be targeted directly to the advertiser or to the advertiser?s advertising agency. This ?Hunter Only? position requires resourceful and intelligent prospect identification and remarkable sales skills that compel the prospect?s ?top authority? decision maker? to choose MSS. This position is specifically compensated for NEW account development. Once secured as a client, on-going media placement will be facilitated by the MSS account management team.
Internal Core Expectations ? Execution elements
Develop and maintain a focused new account development strategy.
Identify specifically targeted prospects that meet ?ideal? new account criteria.
Utilize current MSS selling methodology and develop tactical plan with timelines for penetrating and closing prospects.
Construct customized sales contract proposals that maximize client revenue benefits and profit return to MSS.
Demonstrate superior skills in selling/closing client contracts.
Maintain client ?relationship? contact with client?s Key Decision Maker and key product strategist to receive feedback and ?mine? for new or expanded contract opportunities.
Continuous sales skill development through MSS training and self paced independent learning.
Provide on-going market reconnaissance and new account and new revenue stream ?idea? generation to MSS strategy team.
Enhance MSS dynamic culture by continually demonstrating a cooperative and collaborative dialog with employees at all levels throughout all offices.
Demonstrate professional and ethical integrity through seeking help and providing assistance to others.
Accountabilities
Continuous new account sales achievement by surpassing sales goals.
Development of customized contracts that surpass client goals and their ROI expectations.
Seamless delivery in hand-off of client to MSS account management team.
Timely check in with client.
Mining of clients to maximize MSS penetration throughout client company. Maintain lucrative and progressive prospect pipeline.
Maintain accurate and timely data in MSS? CRM system.
Demonstrated sales skill proficiency directed at executive decision makers.
Demonstrated enrichment of the MSS culture through work ethic, attitude, superior performance and behaviors.
Skill specific competencies
Four year College Degree
Minimum 5 years in professional sales with at least 50% of time spent in new account hunting and closing contracts.
3 years experience at developing custom proposals.
3 years experience in print (newspaper, magazine) media sales and or new client development for an advertising agency or media representative group.
History of personal sales skills development.
Success in earning commissions that exceed draw or base salary.
Detail-oriented with the ability to manage projects from inception through execution
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
