The Sales Engineer will fill a critical role in the Sales cycle, providing technical consulting and advice to Sales staff and clients as new business opportunities and associated technical implementations are being discussed. This position requires a blend of deep technical understanding, passion for developing creative solutions, and the ability to establish personal rapport with existing and potential client staff ranging from C level executives to software engineers.
As an InComm Sales Engineer, you will apply considerable prior technical development, consulting and/or system implementation expertise, along with a thorough understanding of InComm platform capabilities and best practices, to contribute to the creation and implementation of industry-leading solutions.
Provide technical and consulting support to the Sales organization through:
Participating in client calls and/or on-site meetings
Contribute to the shaping of requirements and definition of associated solutions / options for new implementations / initiatives
Contribute to the evaluation of RFP/RFI?s, and leading the preparation of IT / technical sections of InComm responses
Developing new business opportunities in conjunction with Sales
Attending trade shows and conferences relevant to InComm?s evolving line of business
Providing Sales and technical resources support for emerging markets
During the opportunity assessment phase of a project, responsible for engaging with the client, developing a professional rapport and trust by offering solutions to business need which are technically sound, cost effective, with clear understanding of associated risk / complexity. The Sales Engineer is both a technical and business expert, able to understand, explain and support projects using any of InComm?s multiple integration methods, toolkits and platforms.
Understand customer requirements and leverage in depth knowledge of InComm?s standard portfolio to maximize utilization of existing specifications, procedures, and practices for new implementations and offerings. Apply this knowledge during discussions with merchant, POS provider, switch, and partner development organizations.
Assist Sales and Channel Managers with project estimates through identifying new requirements and working with internal and/or external development organizations to determine estimated costs and execution timeframes.
Create Project charter for all projects, and contribute to the smooth transition from new opportunity to an implementation project managed by the Retail Solutions team
Build and maintain relationships with key executives in merchant and product sales teams
Communicate effectively with internal and external teams to deliver integration solutions for merchants, partners, and processors
Deep technical and operational understanding of Point of Sale Systems and their integrated payment subsystems. Preferably, with hands on experience across multiple platforms.
A four year degree or equivalent experience (5+ years of project management/Technical consultant experience/training and 5+ years of management experience/training)
Must have superior verbal and written communication skills, including ability to understand and communicate complex technical matters to a non-technical audience
Must have strong discovery and negotiation skills
Must have strong organizational skills
Prior consulting background and/or experience supporting internal and external customers
Experience evaluating Business Requirements and Project Schedules
3+ years of minimum experience in Technical consulting
MS Office Tools (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Visio)
Expert understanding of software development and infrastructure project lifecycles
Ability to effectively manage time, prioritize work, multi-task across many assignments and delegate
