As a key member of our Operations team, the Sales Engineer will play an integral role between the entire Sales and Professional Services Organizations. Through the lifecycle of the sales process, the Sales Engineer will work with the Sales group to ensure client?s workflow processes as well and technical requirements meet the necessary guidelines to deliver a successful Granicus solution. As the solution is finalized, the Sales Engineer will present the packaged solution to our Professional Services Organization in order to build the proper scope of work for a successful delivery. Lastly this role will act as a mentor and guide to build an educational foundation for key technical areas of the Granicus suites offering to our sales teams. This position will report directly to the VP of Operations.
Coordinate Network Assessments for opportunities in the pipeline
Assessment and documentation of prospect networks, routers, firewalls, LAN, VLANs, WANS, DMZs etc. Creation and Maintenance of Network topology diagrams for each of our prospects to ensure that the solution proposed will operate successfully in their existing environments. If risks are identified, the Sales Engineer will recommend possible modifications (to the solution or to their network) which will ensure success.
Self-managing a schedule of calls with prospective clients to validate their network and ensure Granicus has documented knowledge of all aspects of their network and possible problem areas.
Assisting existing clients with upgrade planning involving technical and workflow adjustments as needed.
Responsible for reviewing proposals SKUs to ensure all solution elements, software, services, and managed services are properly validated against the Project Scope of Work.
Participate & organize technical calls related to complex open opportunities or to the successful transition of closed opportunities
Assist Sales & Finance with client technical needs
Respond to functional and technical elements of RFIs/RFPs
Research and advise client and/or Finance on necessary hardware needed (AV or network equipment)
Convey customer requirements to Development / Product Manager
Launch a Deployment Snapshot for all projects to transfer relevant information to Deployment.
Act as the Sales Team?s liaison to the Deployment Team. Attend meetings and participate in training as necessary to keep up with the state of the Deployment Team and their processes.
Sales Systems Support
Provide first-tier support for the Sales Reps? demo environments
Maintain Granicus applications & demo software on all Reps? laptops. Maintain Sales Rep MediaManager sites. Push new Granicus products & software updates out to the team. Fix problems as they occur.
Pro-active maintenance & clean-up of Sales Rep laptops and MediaManager sites.
Coordinate Desktop Support for Sales Team members
For small problems, this position is responsible for working with the team member to find a resolution.
For larger problems, this position is responsible for escalating to Granicus Help Desk to ensure the problem is resolved in a timely manner.
Ensure that all product-related inquiries from Sales reps receive a timely answer and are properly documented within the knowledgebase system.
When needed, assist with the documentation of sales-specific processes.
Education & Experience
BS in Computer Science or Information Systems or equivalent
2-3 years of Sales Engineering or Technical Sales experience
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Experience working as a sales engineer, technical sales, and technology evangelist in a SaaS based company
Strong understanding of Hosted and On Premises technologies as well as the network layer in between
Strong understanding of architecture, design, and implementation of technical solutions.
Experience with network/systems administration
Network and software certification a plus
Excellent problem solving skills, particularly with regard to anticipating and solving problems, issues, risks or concerns before they become critical
Desire to coach and mentor individuals in technology.
Proven ability to gain cooperation of others, proven leadership skills
Ability to work with cross-functional teams both internally as well as customers to provide quick and timely responses.
Self-motivated and able to define, plan, and implement tasks in a team environment
Exceptional organizational skills with key ability to follow through and complete commitments and requirements.
Fast learning and adaptable - able to work in fast paced environment
Flexibility to travel on rare occasions to client sites
SalesForce.com or other CRM experience a plus
Excellent client service attitude and team focus
Clear sense of integrity with interest in building strong customer relationships.
Excellent written, and verbal communication skills with both technical and non technical customers
