ABOUT THE COMPANY
Pathogenetix is seeking highly motivated and enthusiastic software developers to work with a team of scientists and engineers to transition our product from alpha prototype to production. Following several years of development we are now commercializing an advanced instrument and assay system for food safety applications. PathoGenetix built this product leveraging a proprietary Genome Sequence Scanning (GSS) technology that employs single-molecule mapping of genomic DNA to identify a vast variety of microorganisms in complex mixtures. The Company is located in Woburn, MA.
GENERAL
The applicant will be a part of a small team of scientists and scientific software developers working on a software suite supporting GSS technology. The software performs pattern recognition and clustering on data obtained from the fluorescence signals of individual DNA molecules. The successful candidate will have experience in software development, specifically in producing robust and manageable code for complex mathematical algorithms. The applicant will work on further development and automation of the existing software packages for internal and external users of GSS technology for industrial microbiology applications.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
A range of experience levels will be considered, but the candidate is expected to be quickly productive by having the ability to implement mathematical and statistical algorithms in code and to think critically in designing algorithms. Highly competent individuals with at least a B.S. degree (preferably in Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics/Statistics, or EE) and 3 years of experience will be considered. Candidates with M.S. or Ph.D. will also be considered. The successful candidate should be self-motivated, and have a desire to learn scientific and software techniques while working closely with a team of software developers and scientists.
SPECIFIC DUTIES
Develop an understanding of the existing data analysis algorithms and contribute to improving the algorithms and software. Implement and test improvements and automation of the modules within the existing suite of programs. Develop and implement strategies for automating these modules and their subsequent deployment on the PGX device. Responsibilities will also include designing and maintaining interfaces with the control software. Duties may also involve the logical organization of reference databases of bacterial targets and creating tools for handling of these databases.
