Abcam, Inc.'s rapidly growing business has a terrific opportunity for you! We specialize in the production and sale of antibodies and related products and currently need an experienced scientist in Cambridge, MA to join our global, customer-focused team in support of our lab-based clients throughout North and South America. This role is ideal for a researcher with hands-on antibody experience in a research setting who now wishes to use his or her expertise outside of the laboratory. Responsibilities:
Provide an excellent level of customer service, leading to high customer satisfaction
Troubleshoot problems with antibody-related applications (western blot, IHC, ELISA, IP, FC, ChIP, etc) and other protein related products (biochemicals, assay kits)
Resolve complaints by providing optimal solutions to customers, balanced with commercial needs
Improve our customers? work in the lab and also increase sales by cross-selling where appropriate
Liaise with product suppliers to obtain product information when necessary
Update product datasheets when new information becomes available
Spend up to 10% of time working on other projects that will benefit the business
Continually think of, suggest, and help implement process improvements
Actively participate in team meetings and departmental discussions
Job Requirements:
Essential:
Minimum of B.S. in a life sciences field with 2 years additional routine research laboratory experience using antibodies and related reagents in antibody related applications. Experience must include western blotting or immunohistochemistry.
Friendly, positive, self-motivated, and a good team player
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Enjoys and excels at troubleshooting and problem solving
Ability to multitask
Takes initiative and follows up on work appropriately
Experienced and comfortable using computers, working knowledge of Excel, Word, and Outlook
Highly desirable:
Laboratory experience in multiple major applications (western blotting, FACS, ELISA, immunohistochemistry, ChIP)
Background in chemistry with experience using and troubleshooting assay kits and/or the application of biochemicals in life sciences research
Experience teaching or supervising staff or students
Customer service and/or call center experience
Ability to travel within US twice each year, and to UK for 1.5 weeks once 6-12 months after hire
