Design, develop, and optimize biochemical assays using purified enzymes and cell/tissue extracts to be utilized in both lead finding and optimization
Express and purify recombinant proteins
Evaluate small molecule inhibitors in biochemical assays
Evaluate enzyme kinetics and inhibitor mechanism of action
Collaborate actively with other scientists to identify and evaluate new discovery programs
Qualifications:
Ph.D. in Biochemistry or related field with 1-3 years of experience in a drug discovery environment
Demonstrated hands-on experience with designing, executing and analyzing enzymology and mechanism of action experiments
Expertise in protein expression, subcellular fractionation, enzyme preparation, enzyme assay design & development, assay troubleshooting and small molecule screening
Cell culture and cell based assay development (intact cell and cell extract) experience desirable
Pharmacodynamic assay development experience desirable
Experience with protein-protein interaction assays desirable
Highly motivated with excellent problem solving abilities
Breadth and flexibility to adapt to changing project needs
Good communication, interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills are essential
