Fluidigm is the market leader in products for single cell gene expression. We are expanding our product portfolio in single cell analysis, and seeking to recruit outstanding scientists to join our Research and Development team. The successful candidate will lead development of new techniques for single cell biology, and help implement them on our high-throughput microfluidic sample preparation platform.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential duties include but are not limited to:
Invent and develop protocols for single cell genetic analysis in a microfluidic sample preparation platform.
Experimental design and analysis, assay proof-of-concept and characterization. Help establish tests to demonstrate protocol performance.
Generate data for marketing and publication.
Work with a multidisciplinary team to successfully transfer protocols to commercialization.
Identify potential test sites and applications; Interact with and support test sites.
Analyze and present data internally and to the outside scientific community.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience
PhD in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or Chemistry with 2-5 years experience or Masters degree in equivalent majors with 5 years experience required.
Broad experience in standard molecular biology techniques including cell handling, DNA/RNA sample preparation and PCR required.
Experience in sample preparation for genomics required (whole transcriptome amplification, whole genome amplification, RNAseq, ChIP, Methylation; Next Generation Sequencing, microarrays, qPCR, genotyping, bioinformatics; FACS sorting and analysis). Experience in single-cell preparation for genomic analysis strongly preferred.
Experience in Stem Cell Biology, Cancer Biology, Immunology, or Developmental Biology preferred; single cell focus strongly preferred.
Experience in bioinformatics and statistical data analysis a plus.
Strong record of publications and/or public presentations desired.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Demonstrated independent thought and judgment in experimental design and analysis, method development, and problem-solving.
Thorough and detail-oriented, have excellent organizational and documentation skills.
Outstanding oral and written communication skills.
Ability to work in a high performance start-up environment with special emphasis on commercial product development preferred.
