Odyssey Thera is looking for a Computational Biologist/Bioinformatics Scientist to maintain and further develop our proprietary automated high throughput image analysis and data summarization pipeline to facilitate compound profiling and drug discovery. The successful candidate will work with company biologists to identify optimal methods to extract quantitative multi-variate information from images of complex biological samples and incorporate the appropriate algorithms and statistical tests into our high throughput analysis platform to robustly quantify novel biology in HTS screens. The successful candidate will also participate in the maintenance and further development of our custom LIMS infrastructure which consists of an Oracle relational database, web interfaces, high performance computing nodes, on-line storage, network and Linux / Windows servers.
The position requires a B.S./M.S or equivalent years of experience in computer science, computational biology or related field, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in a biotech/pharmaceutical R&D environment. The successful candidate will have demonstrated expertise in the areas of high content image analysis and quantitative analysis of cell based assays (preferably in a high throughput setting), and application of data classification and statistical approaches to the analysis of large data sets. Extensive experience on Linux/Unix platforms in a diverse network and server environment is essential, as is expertise with scripting languages such as Perl and/or Python. The successful candidate should also be proficient in relational database (Oracle preferred) and web interface development. He/she must have excellent oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and be able to make sound scientific decisions in a fast-paced environment.
