Description
The successful candidate will work together with an interdisciplinary team to develop applications and protocols for Next Generation Sequencing using Fluidigm?s microfluidic technology platform.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential duties include but are not limited to:
Develop protocols to prepare single cell and bulk samples for sequencing. Analytical targets include both RNA and DNA; sequencing platforms include Illumina, IonTorrent, and Roche 454.
Test and validate protocols for commercial release. Generate data to support marketing and sales.
Work with bioinformatics personnel to interpret data and develop methods for data analysis.
May plan and supervise the work of others.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience
Ph.D. in molecular biology, chemistry, biochemistry or biomedical engineering, with 2-5 years post doctoral experience essential. 1-3 years of industry experience desired.
Hands-on experience in genomics assay technologies (e.g. qPCR, droplet/digital PCR) essential
Hands-on experience with NGS sample preparation, hardware, and data handling essential.
Broad experience in standard molecular biology techniques including DNA/RNA sample preparation PCR and RT-PCR essential
Experience as a member of a cross-disciplinary technology development team is preferred.
Experience in bioinformatics and statistical data analysis an added plus.

Demonstrated ability to solve problems independently, run experiments, analyze data, interpret results and modify procedures, present results in public and maintain experiment records.
Excellent chemical intuition and hands-on laboratory skills.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Ability to successfully work in a team environment and to adapt to rapidly evolving needs.
