This Scientist is a highly motivated, hands-on experimentalist with experience in developing assays and workflows on new instrumentation. This person thrives in a multidisciplinary environment and will be a key member of the product development team, working side-by-side with hardware, software and optical engineers to assess new instrumentation and assay workflows. This person will run assays on prototype, alpha and beta instruments and provide detailed feedback and new ideas for addressing application needs. The Scientist will clearly communicate findings and work in a team environment to solve problems and bring new products to market.
? Work in the laboratory to design and perform experiments to develop new assays and applications for Pall instrumentation.
? Represent the Chemistry & Consumables group on project teams to develop new products. Clearly communicate findings and progress to the team.
? Translate application and assay needs into needed hardware and software features to aid engineers in development.
? Work with Product Managers and provide a scientist point of view for determining essential features for the product development teams.
? Develop draft product test protocols for new products / assays and work with the QC group to implement routine testing.
? Collaborate with scientists both internal and external to Pall to identify new assays and applications.
? Maintain good laboratory records and documentation for experimental work and results.
? Provide in-depth knowledge on released products for field team.
? Maintain Stockroom for R&D group.
? Design and execute laboratory tests of prototype. hardware, software and biosensors.
? Clearly communicate experimental results to a multi-disciplinary team and formulate ideas for solving any issues encountered.
? Investigate new application areas and communicate implications on new features needed in hardware and software development.
? Determine follow-up experiments for application and systems refinement.
? Collaborate with scientists and engineers to determine system limitations and generate new ideas.
? Ph.D or equivalent industry experience in Chemistry, Biochemistry or a similar field
? Minimum 2 years of experience working with optical biosensors and instrumentation
? Minimum 2 years of assay development experience
? Experience with standard protein biochemistry techniques and protein bioconjugation
? Excellent verbal and written communication to audiences with diverse technical backgrounds
? Knowledge of kinetic analysis a plus
? Knowledge of SPR or waveguide technology a plus
? Knowledge of interferometry a plus
