Scientist - Molecular Biology Chromatin
THIS JOB HAS EXPIRED Chromatin, Inc. is expanding its use of synthetic biology approaches in its sorghum metabolic engineering program and biofuels research. Working closely with the Team leader, Molecular Biology, the scientist will lead vector development and analysis of transgenic plants. R&D activities and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:
Lead high throughput vector development using synthetic biology and molecular tools.
Conduct molecular and biochemical analysis of transgenic plants.
Identify and evaluate new technology platforms to improve gene expression in sorghum.
Manage research associates and research assistants within the molecular biology team.
Maintain an appropriate level of scholarly pursuit, contribute to peer-reviewed publications.
Education & Work Experience
Ph.D. in Plant Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biochemistry or related discipline with extensive hands-on experience with molecular biology during Ph.D. research.
2-3 years of post-doctoral experience with vector construction and transgenic plant analysis.
1-2 years of work experience in an industrial R&D setting is preferred.
Basic or applied research experience in plant molecular biology / biotechnology.
Experience in high-throughput construction and manipulation of large DNA constructs and vectors, for transformation into plants, yeast or bacteria.
Experience with biochemical analysis and/or metabolite profiling of engineered plants.
Experience or familiarity with metabolic engineering of biofuels or chemical feedstocks.
Demonstrated excellence and productivity in hands on molecular biology research
Excellent computer skills including developing vector maps and sequence analysis.
Excellent data analysis skills applicable to complex data sets, large projects.
Experience with statistical analysis and experimental design.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent organizational skills.
Ability to work well in a team environment.
