DescriptionPacific Biosciences is looking for a highly motivated and detailed oriented Scientist to help develop commercial reagent products for the SMRT? Sequencing System.
The Ideal Candidate:
? Has experience in developing processes and test methodologies associated with molecular biology based products, preferably ones involving polymerases, DNA library construction, and/or DNA sequencing
? Has appreciation for process quality and specifications as a requirement for manufacturing
? Has a broad chemistry knowledge of enzymes and molecular biology techniques
? Has strong collaborative and team work attributes
? Must be able to design effective experiments followed by detailed data analysis
? Must be hands-on, willing to get into the lab to execute to plan
? Has good documentation skills (writing SOPs and Batch Records)
Primary Duties / Responsibilities:
? Source and qualify external vendors
? Set up manufacturing infrastructure including BOMS, part numbers, batch records
? Develop well characterized, robust and reliable processes to manufacturing
? Develop and validate new QC/analytical assays for quality control
? Establish relationship between product performance, physical specifications and manufacturing capabilities
? Extensive lab work designing and executing experiments, and analyzing data
? Complete initial production builds of products
? Transfer/train new QC/production processes to manufacturing personnel
Requirements:
? M.S., or Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or related scientific discipline
? 5-10 years (M.S.) or 0-5 years (Ph.D.) of relevant industry experience in Life Sciences, Medical Devices, or Diagnostics
? Effective verbal and written communication skills
? Detailed oriented scientist with ability to take initiative in a fast pace environment
