Scientist / Senior Scientist, Assay Development EnVivo Pharmaceuticals
We seek a team-oriented and motivated individual who will be a key contributor to the overall success of the Research Department. The Scientist / Senior Scientist will provide scientific excellence and guidance in ongoing and novel projects in the In vitro Biology Group. He/she will work across functions and with external resources to contribute expertise in multiple aspects of Assay Development for target identification, validation, screening and SAR determination.
Primary responsibilities:
Provide in-depth expertise in building cellular and cell-free assays for small molecule CNS programs, covering target identification to lead optimization stages
Perform hands-on cellular, enzymatic and biochemical assay development and proof-of-concept studies to advance existing programs and identify new ones
Improve in-house assay platform and robotics capabilities
Manage outsourced screening and pharmacology projects
Help to identify new drug targets in the area of neurodegenerative diseases
Represent the In Vitro Biology team at Project Team Meetings and external meetings demonstrating excellent presentation skills
Requirements:
Master?s Degree in cell biology / enzymology / biochemistry / pharmacology / or related discipline and 15 plus years of experience in the pharmaceutical / biotech industry or PhD and 5 plus years of related experience. Must have experience developing assays utilizing cell biological, enzymatic and biochemical approaches. Strong cell biological expertise (e.g. microscopy, imaging, high-content analysis), as well as experience with gene knock-down technologies desired. Expertise in enzyme activity / binding measurements and data analysis preferred. Technical expertise in protein biochemistry / isolation and ex vivo analysis a plus. Experience with contract research organizations required. Background in CNS drug discovery ideal. Seeking proven track record of scientific rigor through publications. Experience in training junior staff preferable. Should enjoy working independently under general direction in a fast-paced environment. Must have strong oral and written communication skills, and must embrace team work.
