Scientist / Senior Scientist, Enzymology / Biochemistry EnVivo Pharmaceuticals

We seek a team-oriented and motivated individual who will be a key contributor to the overall success of the Research Department. The Scientist / Senior Scientist will provide scientific excellence and guidance in multiple ongoing projects in the In vitro Biology Group. He/she will work across functions and with external collaborators to contribute expertise in Enzymology, Biochemistry and related disciplines.

Primary responsibilities:

Provide in-depth expertise in enzymology and biochemistry for multiple small molecule enzyme inhibitor programs
Perform hands-on enzyme and biochemical assay development and proof-of-concept studies to advance existing programs
Expand in-house assay capability
Manage outsourced enzyme pharmacology projects
Help to identify new drug targets in the area of neurodegenerative diseases, and develop assays
Represent the In Vitro Biology team at Project Team Meetings and external meetings demonstrating excellent presentation skills

Requirements:

Ph.D. in enzymology / biochemistry / pharmacology / or related discipline and 2-5+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical / biotech industry. Must have current and detailed knowledge in the field of enzymology and small molecule enzyme inhibitor drug discovery. Required in-depth expertise of kinetic enzyme measurements and data analysis using multiple platforms (e.g. Caliper, Biacore). Technical expertise in protein biochemistry / isolation and ex vivo functional protein complex analysis strongly preferred. Experience with outsourced project management and contract research organizations desired. Background in mechanisms of gene transcriptional regulation and/or CNS drug discovery a plus. Seeking proven track record of scientific rigor through publications. Experience in managing junior staff preferable. Should enjoy working independently under general direction in a fast-paced environment. Must have strong oral and written communication skills, and must embrace team work.
