Requires a PhD in Chemical & Biological Engineering or related field, a Masters plus 3+ years experience, or equivalent combination. An ideal candidate is someone who has designed and executed experiments involving selection or screening approaches for evolving new phenotypes, experience with genomic library construction, microarrays and/or next generation sequencing technologies. Applicants should be motivated to evaluate new applications for these tools and an understanding of genetics, selection, population dynamics, and statistics is required. This position will require an in-depth understanding of strain selection, metabolic networks, efficient implementation and manipulation of genetic traits. A thorough understanding of metabolic engineering techniques and experience with basic microbiology techniques in E. coli or other bacterial systems is preferred.
