The Scientist - Services is an individual with proven expertise on the production and expansion of human and mouse iPS cells. We seek a highly motivated and customer-focused candidate who possesses excellent organizational and communication skills to ensure timely delivery of concurrent service projects. The Scientist will directly interact with clients in the planning stage of service projects and work within a team of scientists to execute them. The Scientist will also interact with R&D and Production Scientists to contribute to the development of new products and new applications related to Reprogramming and Cellular Differentiation. The researcher will help to design and execute experiments at the forefront of pluripotent stem cell biology and cell fate manipulation. Weekend coverage is required, but with flexible hours. The position is located in Cambridge, MA.
Responsibilities include:
Expansion of human ES and iPS cells under feeder and feeder-free culture conditions
Genetic manipulation of iPS cells using multiple methods
Characterization of undifferentiated in vitro-derived differentiated cell types using standard methods such as flow cytometry, real-time PCR, immunostaining, phase/fluorescence microscopy and relevant functional assays where applicable.
Maintenance of detailed, accurate and up-to-date records
Maintenance of lab equipment, inventory of reagents and cells, and supplies
Development of new reprogramming and differentiation services
Timely completion of job cost and client Milestone reports, of technical documents including standard operating procedures, testing protocols, and scientific presentations
Support other areas and colleagues in R&D that focus on Reprogramming, Stem Cell Culture, and Reprogramming Services.
Support colleagues in other departments such as Manufacturing, Quality Control, Marketing and Reprogramming Training Courses

Qualifications:
Comprehensive experience in the life science industry: Biology, cell and molecular biology, developmental biology or bioengineering with a minimum of 2 years experience in stem cell biology.
Experience with reprogramming required-1 year of generating iPS cells by multiple methods
Hands-on experience with culturing human ES and iPS cells in both feeder and feeder-free environments
Expertise in testing and developing protocols for reprogramming and directed differentiation of human ES or iPS cells towards ectoderm, mesoderm, and endoderm lineages
Expertise in characterizing pluripotent stem cells and their differentiated progeny using flow cytometry, immunofluorescence, real-time PCR and basic molecular and biochemical techniques
Experience in gene targeting of mouse or human ES or iPS cells beneficial
Excellent organizational skills including the ability to prioritize and multi-task
Proficiency in generating and delivering presentations and project reports
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal ? Solid computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Photoshop
Outstanding work ethic, highly motivated, and willing to work as part of matrix teams.
