About the Job
Reporting to Director of IT Operations, the Security Engineer is responsible for ensuring and enforcing best security practices and standards on the current environment and the design and deployment of new services. The position will be identifying potential security threats, responding to security violations, and assisting in root cause analysis of incidents. This role in a highly dynamic organization will drive initiatives to extend cutting edge technologies designed to enhance user experience and productivity.
Monitor security logs for intrusions, attacks, vulnerabilities
Manage the firewall design and installation process
Keep IT team up to date with latest security vulnerabilities
Serve as on-call escalation for any security issue resolution
Enforce company policies by auditing user data and activity to ensure consistent business use
Collection of confidential data upon request by HR and Legal departments
Perform the engineering, configuration, installation, maintenance, and upgrade of security systems including firewalls, IDS systems, log servers, etc.
Provide documentation and training to internal departments to facilitate day-to-day operations
Education: Bachelor?s Degree in Computer Science, Business, Information Management, or a related field preferred, or commensurate experience
5 years experience of enterprise level network security maintenance and implementation
Strong knowledge of TCP/IP protocols, QoS, and other network technologies
Strong knowledge of network security and firewall policies, including in depth analysis of access lists and activity logs
Experience with vulnerability and risk management using network scanners such as QualysGuard
Strong knowledge of PCI DSS and HIPAA requirements
Experience with Cisco switches and routers in an enterprise environment ? device and config management
Experience with Cisco ASA, Juniper SSG, and Microsoft ISA firewalls ? proactive alerting and monitoring
Experience with enterprise load balancing solutions and web server security
Some level of scripting in VBScript, Powershell, etc.
Strong knowledge with Microsoft Operating systems (Windows 2008, 2003, 7 and XP)
Must have strong project management skills and strong analytics
Must possess the ability to work with outside vendors and management
Must have strong written and verbal communications skills
Willing to carry a phone 24x7 and respond to emergency calls off hours
Education: Microsoft MCSE, Cisco CCNA/CCNP, and/or Juniper certifications
Solid experience in maintenance and upkeep of network security solutions in a high availability network
Solid experience with services such as IPSEC, VPN, HTTP(S), Syslog, ICMP, DNS, DHCP, FTP, SFTP, SSH, IP addressing and IP telephony
Ability to communicate technical solutions effectively to a non-technical audience
