About Us
The Arbor Security Emergency Response Team (ASERT) has a position open for a security threat and quality assurance test analyst focusing on threat mitigation as well as software and hardware Q.A. We strive to research and develop new methods and solutions to help service providers and enterprises detect and mitigate internet based attacks. We are growing our ASERT group that defines threats and measures traffic, dissects network vulnerabilities and exploits, and configures test environments to validate solutions. This ASERT group works with the Manager of Security Tools Development and is based out of Ann Arbor, MI.
About You
As a test analyst you certainly have investigated packet dumps before, traced a TCP connection from a client to a server, and maybe even tried to sniff your password across the network. You have also proven a developer wrong by showing them a packet capture where code has not executed in the way they indicated it would. We hope that you also have been able to test code or solutions and found bugs through written or automated test plans. You are able to speak and communicate verbally just as well as you can over IP and through languages such as C, Python, and shell. You also are interested in security as an industry because ASERT and Arbor needs you to help drive the future of our products, research, and operations.
Qualifications
Essential Qualifications
Understanding of core Internet protocols (TCP, IP, DNS, HTTP, SMTP, UDP,...) and able to identify these inside of a packet capture
Experience using network security and prevention tools (e.g. IDS/IPS, wireshark, metasploit, snort, tcpdump, etc.)
Two(2)+ years experience in network administration, systems administration, or threat and security mitigation solutions
Experience and/or understanding of basic network device administration; routers, vlans, port spanning, switches, routes and gateways
A driving sense of craftsmanship, quality, and ownership delivered through effective written, electronic, and verbal communication
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with network traffic data feeds and data providers
Experience with large enterprise-level traffic generation products (Ixia, BreakingPoint, Mu Dynamics, Shenick diversifEye, others)
Experience working in or closely with a SOC (Security Operations Center) or NOC (Network Operations Center).
Experience QA testing software or hardware solutions and test plan creation and execution for QA
Experience (collaborative) with agile development of software solutions to automate operations development including working in an environment with revision control and/or SOA based solutions
BS/BSE software engineering, computer science, technology, information assurance, security, or related discipline experience
CISSP or CISM certification
