We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join our Finance & Accounting Team. The successful Senior Accountant will take ownership of the assigned areas, and have the ability to resolve complex issues, improve on processes, and strengthen internal controls while working under minimum supervision.
The position will report to the Controller and have the following responsibilities:
Monthly and annual close ? Perform the monthly and annual financial close process for certain close activities related revenue recognition, AR, unbilled AR, and deferred revenue accounting areas. Manage the coordination and information gathering from business owners in order to determine revenue recognition in accordance with GAAP for various revenue streams, including advertising, licensing, professional services and others. Lead and manage monthly or quarterly billings to customers, AR collections and Credit memos, and post journal entries to record revenue.
Responsible for Cash Management, including weekly deposits, credit card payments, cash postings, bank reconciliations.
Perform monthly accruals and reconciliations for Search Engine Marketing (SEM) and other accounts as assigned.
Perform monthly variance analysis of month-over-month and budget versus actual for revenue and COGS expense accounts.
Prepare and submit monthly Management Reporting Package to investors and banks.
Assist in the review of A/P processing, including account coding, invoice vouchering, and setting up new vendors.
Key participant in the Budget process, producing schedules and forecast reports for certain expense accounts.
Oversee GL maintenance of Sage PFW and update FRX reporting templates.
Participate in the Annual Audit, providing selected supporting schedules.
Support Internal Control maintenance and assist in creating and setting up processes that maintain and/or improve the daily operations within the Accounting/Finance Department.
Lead certain ad hoc accounting projects and financial reports as needed.
BA/BS in Accounting, plus 5-7 years of related accounting experience, at least 2 years in revenue recognition and CPA a plus.
Two years+ experience in a Media / Internet company is a plus
Experience in implementing new software tools and/or system conversion a plus.
GL experience with small company, such as SAGE Platinum (a plus), Great Plains, or other financials application software (i.e. Intacct, Netsuite)
Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel, including Pivot Tables, SUMIFS, and VLOOKUP functions.
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Strong working knowledge of GAAP
Ability to compile, analyze and interpret financial data clearly
