Good Start Genetics is seeking a full-time Senior Accounting Manager
We seek a highly motivated individual to support the growing functions of our Accounting & Finance department. This position will report to the Controller.
We are looking for team players who are willing to accept personal accountability for successful job performance and who have a willingness to learn new skills, as well as continually improve existing skill set.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Manage the general ledger account reconciliation process for balance sheet and income statement accounts, including: Cash, Accounts Receivable (significant and complex risk area in medical reimbursement), Inventory, Fixed Assets, Other Assets, Accounts Payable, Accrued Expenses, Long-Term Debt, Equity accounts, Revenue (significant and complex risk area), Expenses
Oversee daily accounting operations, including purchasing and accounts payable processing, cash transactions, payroll
Assist in the preparation of internal financial reports and external monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including footnote disclosures
Assist in the analysis and evaluation of technical accounting issues and financial transactions to ensure compliance with applicable standards
Support external audit and review requirements
Manage the responsibilities and development of Accounts Payable accountant
Maintain (and assist to create, as necessary) accounting policies and internal control procedures
Make recommendations for continuous process improvements to maximize efficiency in financial reporting
Manage payroll and other related Federal and State tax reporting
Support the preparation of annual Federal and State tax returns and compliance reports
Support coordination of annual budget process and periodic forecasting exercises
Other ad hoc reports and duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Strong working knowledge of US GAAP
Process oriented with superior attention to detail, strong organization and communication skills. Must be able to communicate effectively at all levels within the organization, including executive and senior management and external auditors
Ability to complete multiple priorities under tight timelines
Ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
Knowledge of automated financial accounting & reporting systems
Knowledge of federal and state regulations
Ability to supervise & manage others
Education:
Bachelor?s Degree in Accounting or related field (Master?s Degree preferred)
Experience:
Minimum 5 years of financial reporting or public accounting experience
CPA preferred
Prior experience working in Healthcare/Laboratory Services industry strongly preferred
