The SEC Reporting & Technical Accountant position is a critical role for our rapidly-growing company, and works in close partnership with the GL, FP&A and Legal teams, as well as serving as a key point of contact for our external auditors. The SEC Reporting & Technical Accountant reports directly to the Senior Director, SEC Reporting & Technical Accounting. This role is responsible for accurate and timely preparation of the Company?s SEC filings, including Forms 10-K and 10-Q?s, internal and external reporting, researching and documenting complex technical accounting issues and documentation and maintenance and improvement of internal controls surrounding this process.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
Preparation and/or assistance with the Company's Securities Exchange Act filings including Forms 10-K and 10-Q's, Proxy Statement, Comment Letters, Securities Act filings and press releases (external financial filings). Coordinate audit support & review filings with external auditors, CFO, CAO, Controller, and senior members of the finance & legal teams;
Preparation of earnings release back up materials and press release financial information, as well as XBRL compliance. Preparing and/or assisting with other ad-hoc financial information requests from internal tax department, investor relations and other departments;
Roll forward SEC reporting templates, completing the disclosure checklists, maintain the SEC reporting document during the reporting cycle and incorporating changes to the document as comments are received from reviewers. Ensure the document is properly formatted and is accurate;
Prepare the quarterly SEC reporting binder which includes the supporting documents, completing the tie out of the relevant SEC forms being filed as well as compiling approvals received for filing;
Assist with the preparation of the XBRL quarterly and annual SEC filings in accordance with the SEC requirements by rolling forward the XBRL template, updating with current period financial numbers, tagging the SEC filing document, and reviewing the instance document for consistency with the SEC filing rules;
Preparation and/or assist with monthly, quarterly and yearly internal and external financial reporting processes, including preparation of CFO/CAO reporting package, BOD and Audit Committee packages, loan covenant reporting, reports to private investors, public debt reporting, and SEC reports as applicable;
Research and document the Company's most complex technical accounting issues; present and resolve the Company's positions for critical accounting issues with external auditors, Controller, CAO and CFO. Review and approve other technical accounting issues papers prepared by Controller's group;
Document and maintain Global Corporate Accounting Policy Manual. Requires significant research and documentation as new technical accounting and SEC regulations are being adopted quarterly. New standards include very complex accounting guidance related to topics such as business combinations, revenue recognition, leasing, hedging transactions, consolidations and others;
Examine new US GAAP accounting standards, and document and communicate impact to Controller's group. Discuss impact of new pronouncements with external auditors for their concurrence on accounting and disclosure impacts. Requires in depth knowledge of standards to provide explanation and/or training to Controllers group.
Comply with all of the SOX 404 compliance controls applicable to the external reporting process for the SEC Reporting team by ensuring proper documentation and providing testing support; assisting with other special projects.
Must have 3 - 5 years of minimum experience, 2+ years in public accounting,1-3 years with a big 4 public accounting firm or financial reporting experience with SEC registrants
BA/BS degree in Accounting or Finance
Sound GAAP knowledge and good background with SEC filings
Must have SEC filing process and creation of supporting documentation experience
Must have strong PowerPoint presentation skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Results orientation and strong organizational skills
Strong time management skills with ability to multi-task
Extreme attention to detail (the importance of detail orientation for this position cannot be over emphasized)
Resourceful, action-orientated with the ability to meet deadlines and turnaround requests in short order
Strong analytical and problem solving skills with special emphasis on Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint applications
Must have the attitude to be able to work hard ?roll-up the sleeves? in order to accomplish all necessary tasks and must exhibit a desire to continuously keep learning
Must be working towards or planning to work towards obtaining CPA certification
