We are on track for major new product releases this spring and summer and are looking for someone who is eager to learn the joys and pains of growing a startup. Service Alley - Recommendations From People You Know
The day-to-day stuff
Design and develop mind blowing applications and enhance existing Service Alley Rails applications
We're not here to babysit you and your team; you should be able to take or come up with a high level idea, prioritize tasks, and lead the development team towards creating it
You have a real understanding of databases and what it means to write heavily database-backed software
Survey what's out there in the open source world, evaluate vendor products, or code it yourself
Communicate with tech and non-tech people alike, and show both technical and functional command of what you're doing
Coaching and mentoring back end engineers developers on best practices
Agile isn't just a buzzword, iterative dev is your lifeblood and a day without your team pushing code makes you sad
You're not afraid to crack open an existing code base and bend it to your will
Constantly think of ways to improve the member and provider web experience
You like designing software, and thinking through how it fits into larger efforts before you dive in
Required
High energy personality, creative and not afraid to take initiative
Extensive experience conceiving, designing, and developing sophisticated web applications in Ruby on Rails
Experience in an OO programming language like Java, C++, etc.
Experience working on software that is backed by MySQL, Postgres or Oracle. If an expert isn't around, you can play the role of a DBA
Experience developing software on a UNIX platform
You are familiar with open source packages for getting work done, and are comfortable surveying the landscape before beginning a development project
Superior written and verbal communication skills
Strong ability to prioritize and work autonomously while leading and managing a small development team
Fun perspective on life and an entrepreneurial spirit
Not Required, But Impressive
Experience with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB or Redis
Experience with location based search
Front end experience with AJAX, JQuery and jQuery UI
Experience working in an agile, iterative development environment
