Senior Business Intelligence Analyst



Job Summary:
The Senior Business Intelligence Analyst will work within the Engineering team, supporting diverse projects and business areas. Strong analytics and communications background is needed since the main focus of the job is the delivery of business intelligence solutions to end users to facilitate their making more informed business decisions. Responsibilities include requirements gathering, design, coordination, report and application development/customization, testing, and ongoing support of customer BI reporting and analytic needs.

The Business Intelligence Analyst must have a skill set that spans both business and technical tasks. Technical skills entail detailed knowledge and understanding of Business Intelligence functions, including but not limited to analytics, data mining, reporting, report conversion, data cleansing, ETL processes, and data modeling. Business skills entail a solid understanding of business analysis and process improvement, as well as the ability to educate business users and IT staff.

This person will help with implementation of BI projects based on best practices, innovation, and little supervision and will be able to function effectively both as an individual contributor and as part of a team.





Duties and Responsibilities

Create logical and innovative solutions to solve complex problems
Translate business requirements into easily understood reporting/analytical requirements and create technical specifications documents
Develop cross suite reporting strategy and help architect the solution
Improve and streamline processes regarding data flow and data quality to improve data accuracy, usability and value across all products
Participate in creating architecture diagrams and systems documentation that can be understood and used by business users and IT team members
Assist in training and provide guidance to business users on BI toolsets; assist business users with self-service report development.





Requirements

At least 5 years in Business Intelligence, Operational Data Stores, and Data Warehousing
3-5 years in Cognos or another BI platform
3-5 years in working with Oracle database
Competent with basic and advanced SQL
Exceptional verbal and written communications skills with the ability to articulate complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
Proven experience developing functional requirements, technical specifications
Strong problem solving skills and ability to logically analyze complex processes and systems
Experience with ETL tools highly desired
Understanding of Dimensional Modeling



Education

Bachelor's Degree is required; major in Computer Science, Engineering or related discipline preferred
