We are currently recruiting for a top-tier Senior Business System Manager to support our Retail organization. This role will manage and lead the business processes, operations and systems that support our Retail operations. As the lead for retail, you will be the primary partner to the Technology team, leading the development of all functional business requirements, acceptance testing of new capabilities being introduced to our retail workforce, and market introduction when ready for launch. We are in the planning stages of significant functional and technical upgrades to our core Loan Origination and Loan Management Systems, and this role will play a key role in this initiative and all other business systems updates including system upgrades/releases.
This role will influence the efforts of a large number of resources within the organization. This role will maintain a very close relationship with the Technology team at headquarters and the retail field leadership to understand their needs and develop strategies that improve the customer experience. This role will also work very closely with partners from multiple functional areas (Analytics, Compliance, Marketing and Legal) to drive changes that will best support improvement in operating processes as needed.
The person in this role needs to have superior interpersonal skills to navigate the organization and deliver results on both requirements and process development. The individual should also be able to manage multiple projects and resources to implement strategies within the areas of influence. In addition, a solid understanding of planning and financials is important to drive the budgeting for different areas and measure financial performance and returns from projects. The individual must be a proactive advocate who strives to deliver quality projects to the retail organization and have the ability to work around resource and technology limitations to create sustainable and effective business improvements.
Lead for retail in development of all functional business requirements, acceptance testing of new capabilities, launch and maintenance
Own documentation and define development of business process flows for our current and future operational processes
Become SME for all business systems requirements projects for retail organization in partnership with key business partners.
Develop functional requirements that articulate the future state business needs of the Retail department.
Elicit requirements using interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, surveys, site visits, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, business analysis, task and workflow analysis.
Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts and decompose high-level information into details.
Manage partnership with department leads (Director and VP-level) to design new and adapt existing business processes and develop new requirements to support technology design and implementation.
Influence business partners to develop business plans for the adoption of new functionality from our Loan Origination and Loan Management Systems, as well as other relevant technology platforms including workforce planning and management, branch platforms, etc.
Manage relationship with the Oportun Technology team to help in the design of solutions existing and new technology platforms.
Create and maintain workflows, approval processes, and validation rules based on stakeholder requirements.
Design and develop training materials and documentation for Retail and other users and train new end users on relevant applications.
Proactively communicate and collaborate with external and internal customers to analyze information needs and functional requirements and deliver the needed artifacts (i.e., functional requirements, business requirements document and use cases).
Participate in quality assurance process and acceptance of new software.
Work with business unit personnel to identify required changes and partner with Engineering and IT teams to develop solutions / plan their development.
Manage enforcement of project deadlines and schedules.
Deliver informative, well-organized presentations.
Subject matter expertise in consumer finance / lending and associated business processes / technology platforms with minimum 5-10 years? experience required.
Familiarity with key business processes supporting delivery of consumer finance (origination and underwriting, servicing, etc.).
Excellent proficiency in the understanding of how technology supports the operations of the business, including office applications, branch automation, database systems, reporting systems, origination systems, etc....
Strong ability in interpreting customer and business needs and translating them into functional and operational requirements.
Thorough understanding of the software development lifecycle.
Ability to lead and prioritize the functional requirements associated to business solutions that balance effort, cost, and business benefit.
Extensive knowledge of industry best practices when solving business problems, drawing from both the consumer finance as well as broader financial services and technology industries.
Ability to successfully manage and engage in multiple initiatives simultaneously.
Excellent written and verbal communication/presentation skills, including the ability to persuade and influence a broad spectrum of constituents at all levels, inclusive of senior management
Strong organizational, project management skills with attention to detail and decision making abilities
Ability to interpret and analyze data and then appropriately provide recommendations to leadership
Strong analytical skills and ability to exercise sound judgment in development of compliance solutions
Strong leadership skills including ability to influence collaboration and drive results through other team members
Ability to work independently.
Spanish language skills preferred.
Experience with lean, Six Sigma, and similar process improvement methodologies.
