Responsibilities:
Establish and maintain sound professional relationships with suppliers.
Resolve issues (e.g. pricing, quality, timing, contract disputes, etc.) associated with terms and conditions of service agreements /Statements of Work
Facilitate, manage and communicate supplier issues (i.e. cost, quality, delivery, customer service)
Initiate and follow through on supplier changes (Engineering Change Notices)
Understand demand/spend profile for commodity areas and provide this information as necessary
Maintain current accurate records of vendor agreements and related procurement records
Participate in cross-functional teams to implement cost, quality, supplier and delivery strategies
Request quotes and bids for stock and special order items; prepare summary and comparison documentation.
Assist in negotiations and apply basic knowledge of commercial contract law and guidelines, practices and requirements to assess, plan and negotiate best terms and conditions and to minimize risk
Develop and track all cost saving projects /cost avoidance and update manager on a monthly basis
Work to reduce the total cost of ownership by identifying non-value activities and eliminating waste where possible
Support all New Product planning activities and ensure that Purchasing directs the sourcing process
Maintain strong relationship with internal Customers (Manufacturing, R&D, Quality Groups and Facilities) and respond immediately to requests
Qualifications:
BS/BA Degree or a combination of education/work related experience. Must have 5-7 years of experience in Purchasing.
Proficiency in MS Project, Word, Excel, Outlook
Knowledge and use of price and cost analysis
Strong negotiating skills and communication skills with internal and external customers
