Senior Chemist Voltaix
THIS JOB HAS EXPIRED
Education
Must have PhD, preferably in Inorganic Chemistry, Materials Science, or Applied Physics.
Organometallic chemistry knowledge/background is highly desirable as evidenced by the synthesis and purification of air/moisture sensitive compounds using classical Schlenck Line or similar procedures.
Experience and Capabilities
The ideal candidate will possess at least 7-12 years? industrial research experience including:
Strong working knowledge of semiconductor materials and technologies as evidenced by actually synthesizing chemicals that were subsequently used to deposit layers for studying or making such devices. Industrial gases knowledge a plus as evidenced by synthesizing and/or purifying compounds with room temperature vapor pressure > 1 atmosphere, or having extensive, hands-on use of gases like hydrogen, helium, nitrous oxide, methane, etc. under properly documented and controlled experimental conditions, itself as evidenced by working in an industrial gases R&D center.
Fundamental R&D knowledge (experimental design, proof of concept testing, etc.) combined with demonstrated ability to efficiently design, execute and implement short term commercially-driven research and development projects as evidenced by successfully functioning as a principle investigator in an industrial R&D environment.
Hands-on experience with analytical instrumentation including gas chromatography (GC), mass spectroscopy and FTIR, including operating various types of vacuum systems.
Mechanical aptitude as evidenced by having designed, constructed and operated small metal vacuum-compatible systems and their associated pumping systems.
Proven project management skills and prior success in meeting budgets, deadlines and juggling multiple priorities as evidenced by having successfully managed simultaneous R&D projects.
Technical Expertise
Hands-on experience must be evident with knowledge of (at least several):
Inorganic Chemistry
Analytical Chemistry
Chemical Synthesis
Process scale-up/manufacturing
Chemical Engineering fundamentals such as distillation, adsorption
Intellectual property management
Chemical vapor deposition (CVD) process
Gas chromatography (GC/GLC)
