We are currently seeking a Senior Commodity Manager
Job Summary:
As a Senior Commodity Manager for DDN you are part of a team that is responsible for the procurement of raw materials, goods, and services for the manufacturing of DDN's products. This includes the planning, scheduling and monitoring of the movement of materials through the production cycle; utilizing production schedules to maintain inventory at planned levels; ensuring materials standards are met; and managing outside vendors through the processes of qualifying, obtaining quotes, examining bids and making award decisions. You will focus on developing commodity strategies for complex commodities. To be successful, you will need to be extremely organized; able to multi-task in a high volume environment and manage complex projects; have strong communication and team building skills; and be a motivated, self-starter.
Responsibilities for this role include but are not limited to:
Act as Materials focal point for Engineering during supplier selections, rating of supplier performance, and maintaining supplier relationships.
Solicit quotations, perform cost analysis functions, lead cross functional teams to achieve program cost goals.
Participate in supplier selections and the ISO supplier audit procedure.
Maintain current knowledge of market conditions that affect overall cost, lead time, and availability of goods delivered.
Perform cost benchmarking to actual paid.
Responsible for informing cost accounting of standard cost change.
Participate in supplier quarterly business reviews and communicate expectations.
Manage up to ensure executives are informed of commodity approach
Defines and manages a commodity strategy and fully understands the interdependencies and impact to the business.
Leadership of a commodity strategy and preferred supplier list development and governance.
Provides supply options (cost, L/T , etc) for a commodity strategy and market intelligence by technology offering.
Supports contract inputs from a commodity strategy perspective.
Deliver commodity strategy productivity and for benchmarking commodity cost globally.
Leads industry intelligence and competitive benchmarking.
Recognizes conflict as soon as it becomes apparent; clarifies differing needs; and executes appropriate strategies to resolve issues.
Build strong long-term supplier relationships.
Cross functional team leadership.
Cost management.
Technology management and alignment.
Contract management.
Quality management.
Qualifications for this role are:
Excellent communication skills both verbal and written with the ability to listen and deal with conflicting opinions.
Adept at influencing decisions and developing solutions to complex technical situations.
Knowledge of tools, processes, and operations planning.
Good analysis, project management, and reporting capabilities.
Significant prior experience in procurement.
Expertise in negotiation, building strong relationships internally and externally, and conflict resolution.
Contract experience.
Experience in processors, memory, hard drives, PCB fab, sheet metal, power, and cooling a plus.
Strong computer skills including: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Oracle.
Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment of other Commodity Managers and cross functional peers to support deadlines.
Ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently.
BS/BA or equivalent plus 10+ year?s engineering/manufacturing/management experience. Technical degree preferred. Management/multi-discipline experience preferred.
