Senior CRM Developer 2U, Inc.
What we?re looking for:
As a Senior Developer, CRM at 2U, you will build tools that will support applicants, faculty, and students of graduate and undergraduate programs for online campuses at prestigious universities. With Salesforce as the foundation, building these tools will require your in-depth knowledge of Apex development and the building blocks Salesforce provides, combined with a strong traditional software design background to ensure the best possible end product: deployable, maintainable, scalable, version-controlled, unit tested, and ? most of all ? meeting the needs of end users!
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Working with product managers to design and develop complex CRM applications in Apex, along with dependent or complimentary applications outside of Salesforce
Identify areas where we may be pushing boundaries or risking misuse of Salesforce and provide potential solutions or alternatives.
Constantly answering eternal questions such as, "workflow or trigger?" and weighing the pros and cons not only for the technical audience but for the business as a whole
Working with other members of the team to define packaging and deployment guidelines so that consistent deployment to multiple orgs is an option where possible. We have 10+ orgs and counting
Working with product managers to balance technical and business goals. Even as a developer you should be keeping your finger on the pulse of end users to better understand their experience in working with the tools you've created
Things that should be in your background:
You started your career as a software developer, business analyst, or DBA and you've spent the last 2+ years designing and developing in Apex using an IDE such as Eclipse, or better yet, the Force.com migration tool and an editor of your choice
Experience with traditional RDBMS such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, MS SQL Server, etc.
Working in a team-based environment building CRM products that aid internal end-users perform their job
Writing "honest" and effective unit tests with appropriate use of mocking and tracking of code coverage
Solid written and verbal communication skills, and not letting ego get in the way of discussing solutions and helping others
Where possible, never working in the absence of version control. You've previously used SVN, Git, Mercurial to version your Apex code
Experience working in a security-focused environment, ensuring auditing capabilities, defensive unit testing around ACLs.
Demonstrable experience with Salesforce SOAP and REST APIs
Other attributes that will help you in this role:
An interest in Business Intelligence (BI) systems and attention to how they might interact with the CRM. Knowing when built-in reporting is limited and should be delegated to the BI platform.
Experience with building applications using Chatter
Experience with any of the following applications: EchoSign, DocuSign, DupeBlocker, Geopointe, Marketo, or Clicktools
You can provide publicly accessible work examples via GitHub, Launchpad, or Bitbucket
You have an active StackExchange or Salesforce Community profile
Experience using "Black Tab Features" such as "Dotting" ORGs or increasing limits
