We are seeking a talented senior data analyst to uncover key insights about how readers discover and share books on Goodreads. The analytics team will be critical to our growth and since we're just getting started analytically this is the perfect opportunity to build something great from the ground up.
Responsibilities:
Mine and analyze data throughout the lifecycle, including user acquisition, book discovery, book discussion, and user retention, to identify critical insights and make us the leading authority on how people read
Proactively develop new metrics to quantify the value of different aspects of the user experience
Design and create the reporting that shares those metrics in a way that provides insights to the business
Evangelize the use of data for decision making across the company by making information accessible and actionable for all
Partner closely with product and engineering leaders throughout the lifecycle of launching new features. Ensure that necessary data is captured and analytic needs are well-defined up front
Requirements:
BS or MS degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics, Operations Research, or other quantitative field
Expertise in SQL and Excel
Experience with statistical programming environments like R
Experience with a data visualization tool such as Tableau
Experience with Hive or Pig a definite plus as is experience with a scripting language
Strong critical thinking abilities and attention to detail
Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Must be able to explain technical concepts and analysis implications clearly to a wide audience, and be able to translate business objectives into actionable analyses
