Senior Data Analyst Linden Lab
Overview:
We are looking for a dynamic senior data analyst to help take our business intelligence efforts to the next level. This person will have considerable experience using data to influence business decisions by teasing patterns out of structured data sets and making that data tell a compelling story. This is a hands-on role, and the right candidate will be a SQL expert who takes pride in acquiring a deep working knowledge of our products and databases. The analyst will also work with the team to ensure our data warehouse and standard reporting infrastructure clearly supports the needs of the company?s decision makers.
Below are a few examples of the analysis that an individual in this role might tackle:
Analyze the impact of product changes on high-visibility Key Performance Indicators, such as user acquisition and retention.
Acquire the data and prepare a working model to track demand within Second Life for our virtual currency, the Linden Dollar.
Develop key metrics for viewer and simulator performance to monitor and track Second Life availability and stability.
Respond to product team inquiries about the difference in churn rates between subscription models.
Build real-time tracking metrics for new product prototypes to help a Producer track usage of the product; recommend changes that will move the desired metrics.
Work with financial auditors to drill down into quarterly financials.
Responsibilities:
Analytics Development- Perform detailed analysis to support the planning and impact assessment for company initiatives.
Presentation ? Deliver results of your analyses to stakeholders throughout the company.
Senior Report Development ? Turn your ad hoc analysis into robust, ongoing, accurate reports to track analysis results over time when desired.
Lead or participate in design reviews of new reports, dashboards, or analyses by other members of the team.
Warehouse Design: Work with the Operations and Engineering teams to ensure that the reporting warehouse design is evolved in a way that supports the analytics requirements of the business.
Mentor other members of the business intelligence team. Pitch in on data warehouse development and support initiatives by designing new data models, helping to track down sources of data anomalies, etc.
Qualifications:
3+ years experience working extensively with SQL
5+ years experience developing technical analyses and presenting results to an executive-level audience.
Experience with one or more OLAP-style reporting tools (MicroStrategy, Business Objects, Cognos, etc.) and expert-level spreadsheet skills. You?ll learn our specific tools, but you?ll bring your own experience and opinions about effective data design.
Experience working in a Unix environment is desirable; comfort working in a fairly technical environment is required.
