The Role:

The Engineering team is seeking a solutions oriented individual with significant experience in large data system development and data warehousing. The Senior Data Architect will be responsible for taking huge sets of data from disparate systems and transforming them into valuable business information for WhaleShark's management team and customers.

Design, develop and maintain our global data warehouse and reporting infrastructure providing meaningful, accurate data to the senior leadership team as well as providing metrics that can be distributed to our stakeholders
Automate set of standard reports and facilitate fulfillment of ad hoc requests where automation is not practical
Implement a business intelligence reporting layer over the data warehouse that enables distribution of data throughout the organization (Business Objects, MicroStrategy, QlikView, Tableau, etc.)
Build and maintain meta data associated with business intelligence reporting layer
Work with our product team to drive customer engagement through usage of analytical data and provide ongoing predictive analytics related to consumer trends and buying behavior at the individual and aggregate level
Collaborate with our engineering team to integrate real time analytics with our scalable server infrastructure
Extend the scalability of our resources to deliver reporting and analytics resources to improve business performance
Reports into the CTO, but will work closely with the business intelligence team

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field
7+ years of relevant experience in data modeling and architecture
Sound knowledge of data warehousing best practices, database design and database performance optimization
Prior experience integrating data from web analytics tools such as Google Analytics and Site Catalyst (preferred but not required)
Understand parallel architectures
Significant experience with at least one parallel data systems (Hadoop preferred)
Able to work closely with business users to capture business requirements and model the business processes with data architecture
Hands-on engineering experience (Python, Ruby,PHP) is a plus
Understand the importance of metadata and how to manage it
