Senior Database Engineer (MySQL, MongoDB) Jawbone

As a Senior Database Engineer on Jawbone?s Software Platform team, you will be responsible for defining, maintaining, and scaling the data environment (currently MySQL, MongoDB, and Memcached) for all of Jawbone?s software applications. Your responsibilities will include setup and monitoring of databases, performance optimization, troubleshooting data issues, defining data best practices, and designing and implementing applications. If you know MySQL and MongoDB inside and out and are also a strong python developer, you may be the ideal candidate for this role.We are striving to build a highly scalable, versatile platform that will allow Jawbone to deliver groundbreaking mobile experiences for a host of products via a wide variety of devices. Responsibilities:
Working closely with application developers to design and implement data solutions for application features, from selecting a storage technology to designing schemas.
Conducting performance tuning and optimization, including query optimization, index tuning, and devising caching strategies
Performing capacity planning and identifying hardware and software requirements for meeting application needs.
Architecting, designing and implementing software services and/or tools that provide reliability, high availability, performance and scalability for data activities.
Defining and implementing tools and processes to ensure data integrity and identifying and avoiding potential data errors.
Required Skills:
BA/BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
3+ years of experience with MySQL database administration, support, optimizations and monitoring.
3+ years of design and development of high volume, high availability applications and systems.
Experience with designing applications for use with and administering MongoDB
Python or similar language development experience
Deep understanding of Linux operating system, storage solutions, networking, security and web servers.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with data operations in a cloud-hosted environment such as Amazon?s EC2.
