Senior Database Engineer JiWire

Position Summary

JiWire is looking for a Database Engineer to help build our data mining, reporting and ETL processes. Our core data is currently over 5TB. We expect the size of the data infrastructure to quadruple over the next year and we are building a scalable framework to enable this growth. This position will be leading us into the next phase of JiWires growth in Ad Targeting Value.

Responsibilities:



Create data structures to be used in Reporting and Data Warehousing. Work with consumers of Static / Dynamic and Ad Hoc reporting.

Work with our ETL team to enhance and support our custom ETL process, which makes heavy use of HADOOP and PIG.

Tune and Optimize dynamic queries, and the overall data configuration

Participate in the research, design and development of scaling strategies for our large and growing data assets



Qualifications

Required:



BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent

Solid understanding of large scale data management environments (relational and/or nosql)

Large scale data environment experience including partitioning, compression, storage subsystem design and tuning

4+ years of development/enterprise data management experience

Organized, independent, self-motivated and detail oriented

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Desired:

Familiarity with analytic solution design and tools - HIVE, HADOOP, PIG, MySQL

ETL concepts data management, data quality

Linux/OSX experience

Scripting experience with shell, perl or python

JAVA, PHP, or other object oriented language

Awareness of horizontal scale strategies for data management including NoSQL (Hive, Hadoop, HBase,PIG).
