Senior Designer Bloomfire
The senior designer is responsible for successfully planning and design on rich web applications working with our existing designers.-
The Bloomfire team is talented, energetic and collaborative. The office environment is fun and challenging.- The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker able to understand business goals and product requirements, and translate those ideas into creative, innovative, and functional design concepts.
You must be able to explain design, reasoning and functionality to all internal teams. You will be designing wireframes, prototypes and functional specs as well as the face of the product.-
Responsibilities
Take a user-centered approach in conceptualizing and crafting solutions that
meet both user needs and product strategy.
Work with Product Owner to rapidly prototype and iterate on product specification.
Plan and conduct usability evaluations such as heuristic evaluations, contextual inquires, and usability testing.
Communication rationale behind industry standard design decisions to all constituents.
Design wireframes, prototypes and functional specs as well as the production quality visual design.
Collaborate with our team and communicate effectively with stakeholders on the Product, Marketing, and Development.
Review final implementation with Front-end Developers to insure design standards are followed.
Practice user-centered design principles
Develop user personas, use cases, and stories to drive design efforts
Create wireframes based upon personas and stories
Design final concepts based on wireframes deliver prior to start of dev iteration
Implement final concepts in the app using HTML, CSS, Javascript, etc.
Collaborate with and support development team to accomplish goals
Ensure agreed-upon tasks are delivered in each iteration
Conduct manual testing prior to every deployment to ensure bug free implementation and desired behavior has been executed
Be a thought leader in web design community through blogging, posting work, commenting on others, and speaking at conferences
Concept and design collateral material necessary for sales and marketing (website, brochures, sales aids, etc)
Qualifications
A solid portfolio
Mastery of UX principles
A+ visual design chops
Passion for learning and teaching
Excellent communication and writing skills
Detail oriented
Mastery of the following tools/languages
Photoshop (or Fireworks)
HAML/SASS
HTML/CSS
Javascript (using jQuery)
Ability to work smart in a fast-paced, ever-changing and high-growth environment.
BS in Engineering or Design (preferred not required)
