Senior Development Scientist - Laser Design, Modeling, and Characterization BinOptics
Responsibilities:
Based on customer requirements and a strong knowledge of the field and scientific literature, participate in the design and development of novel integrated microphotonic semiconductor devices for BinOptics
Provide hands-on design, simulation, modeling, and analysis of these devices using commercial and in-house developed software tools
Provide design, simulation, testing and analysis of discrete and monolithically integrated lasers and photodiodes for high speed and high power applications
Facilitate the R&D team in the appropriate design of experiments, fabrication, testing, and evaluation of performance for these devices
Work with process development and engineering to define the fabrication process, mask layout, process flow and test requirements
Other Requirements:
In depth knowledge of the optical component field with experience in the materials and physics of semiconductor devices (e.g. lasers, detectors, waveguides, etc.) operating at wavelengths from 440nm to 1600nm
Knowledge of communication protocols such as SONET, Ethernet, and Telcordia reliability standards.
Proven ability as an innovator and team member
Hands-on experience in computer simulation and numerical modeling of passive and active photonic devices
In depth understanding of semiconductor fabrication processes and device testing
5+ years of semiconductor laser modeling
PhD or MS in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or equivalent discipline.
