Senior DevOps Engineer Iovation
THIS JOB HAS EXPIRED
We?re fanatic about stopping fraud at iovation ? we have to be. Startups, Fortune 500 companies, and everything in between rely on us to stop fraud and abuse from destroying their businesses. We?re looking for an engineer to help us maintain our uptime and rapidly scale as we continue to acquire new customers and scale out our systems.
As a seasoned ops expert, not only will you be responsible for keeping our systems up and running, you?ll also have the ability to shape the operations management product you wish you had at your last job. Help us build great tools and a thriving DevOps culture.
You?ve worked in operations for a major online service before. It doesn?t matter whether you were responsible for keeping the lights on at Google or MyStartup.com. What does matter is that you?ve experienced the 4am service-wide outage and the heart-in-your-mouth feeling while you rush to get everything back up. You?ve also experienced the joy of watching your service stay up while a datacenter goes black thanks to carefully laid out infrastructure.
You?ve pulled back the covers and know how this Internet thing works end to end. Networks, servers, code, protocols, query optimization, disks: to you nothing is a ?black-box?. If necessary, you can debug performance problems through the whole stack.
Like the name implies, you know that great DevOps engineers are just as at home writing code as they are provisioning hardware. You subscribe to the theory that operations engineering is about writing software to manage machines, and the thought of ssh?ing directly to a machine to adjust a configuration file strikes you as?distasteful. You therefore have extensive knowledge of at least one configuration management system, such as Puppet (preferred), Chef, or cfengine. You have deep knowledge of a scripting language (eg. Ruby, Python, Perl), and ideally, have contributed code to an open source project, even better if you are an active steward of one.
You consider improving the efficiency of the engineering team to be a key responsibility of the operations group. Continuous integration, push button deployment, real-time dashboards, and centralized logging aren?t just ?nice to have? ? they are massively critical pieces of infrastructure that rapidly pay for themselves. You are deeply familiar with the tool space, and can suggest products/projects in each of these areas.
Our Environment
We don?t hire entirely based on experience with a handful of tools. Instead we want smart, capable, and experienced people that can learn our tools (and help build new ones) as needed.
Here are some of the tools we use:
Puppet, MCollective
Cassandra, Redis, Postgres, ActiveMQ
CentOS, Munin, Graphite, Logstash, Riemann
Zenoss, Jira, Confluence
Java, Jetty, Python, Ruby
