Senior Director, Alliance Program Silver Spring Networks

As the leader of Silver Spring Networks Alliance team, you will be responsible for driving and coordinating all aspects of the SSN partnering program to increase revenues and create strategic market advantage by realizing the full capability of the industry?s largest and most active partnering program. Your primary goal will be to conceive of new programs, methods and approaches to create a sales and profit-generating center from the Company?s partnering activities. Specifically you will:
Take overall ownership of the SSN partnering program
Review, modify and expand the Company?s partnering program and activities to move partners from low-value interoperability to high-revenue, market-creating strategic partners.
Evolve our partnering activities from being a cost-center to a profit-center.
Analyze industry and competitive dynamics and identify implications for Silver Spring Networks as it relates to partnering, and coordinate with the owners of each line of business to target key partnering candidates to recruit them to the SSN platform.
Ensure the development and on-going maintenance of potential partners, organized by line-of-business and geography.
Create a systemic process to track results from our partnering activities in terms of revenue, profit and costs and drive that information into the organization to improve results and focus efforts.
Coordinate regular business reviews with key partners.
Ensure that the Alliances team is the ?go to group? for managing partner related issues faced by sales, product, manufacturing and delivery teams within SSN.
Lead a small team (three total today) and create the business case to expand the team to keep pace with the growth of the business and the results delivered.
Partner with the SSN business development, engineering and product management teams for the development specific strategies and tactics related to partnering to ensure alignment with overall corporate and departmental priorities.
Create regular analysis and reporting to assist the company in future M&A activities, identifying key partners that may be potential candidates for acquisition.
Create a global mind-set for partnering and alliances with the group and the broader organization.
Position will be headquartered in our corporate offices in Redwood City, California and reports to the EVP of Global Development.
Industry expertise to include deep understanding of the networking industry including knowledge of existing and emerging smart grid technologies, market models, insight into emerging applications (machine to machine and the ?Internet of Things?), as well as business issues facing key industry players.
Superior knowledge of alternative program and business models for fully realizing partnering in a complex market environment.
Ability to influence at a senior executive level.
Demonstrated ability to develop and present clear and succinct business cases and recommendations to all key stakeholders across multiple functional areas.
Demonstrated ability to deliver presentations in public and internal settings.
Ability to manage several initiatives simultaneously.
Excellent analytical and project management skills.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to drive cross functional collaboration.
Able to collaborate well with people both inside and outside the company
7+ years of partnering and business development experience.
Direct experience in energy and infrastructure industries, with a specific focus on smart grid, a strong plus.
Proven track record of having driven meaningful sales and profitability from partnering activities an absolute requirement. Candidates without specific, referenced examples of having driven multi-million-dollar programs need not apply.
Masters or other advanced degrees a plus
