Senior Director of Infrastructure Engineering Twilio Inc.
About the Job:
Twilio is seeking a senior engineering leader to head our infrastructure engineering group and take responsibility for the team that ensures carrier grade quality, availability and reliability.
Balancing carrier-grade reliability without sacrificing speed to market is a constant give and take at Twilio. As a platform, our customers? applications and businesses depend on our reliability. As we like to say: every transaction is precious. We strive to achieve 100% availability with no customer impact by designing software and processes to ensure our deployments have no regressions, scale reliably, and are monitored so that we detect problems before our customers.
Twilio is an engineering-driven software company. Twilio believes in small product/engineering teams that are owners of their product line. They?re empowered with a mission, a customer, and metrics of success... and then run as fast as they can to delight their customers. Your operations engineering group builds tools, testing, and infrastructure to make these small, customer-focused teams succeed.
We don?t believe in throwing code over the wall to ops. Your teams? job is NOT to operate everybody else?s code. Rather, you provide the infrastructure to allow each team to effectively, efficiently and reliably operate their services in a distributed fashion.
Success requires the ability to focus on the long-term, the ability to build and execute on a hiring plan, and to manage team dynamics in a fast growing startup environment. Leading your team through stressful situations and communicating across teams and the company is essential.
