Position Scope
The Research and Insights group at InContext Solutions is responsible for delivering on custom market research engagements that provide impactful insights to help guide the business strategy of our clients. The Senior Director will report to Chief Research Officer and will lead our consulting relationships with some of the biggest brands in the world. Additionally, the Senior Director will grow and lead a team as the company grows, assisting with the training, managing and mentoring of junior team members.
A key liaison to clients, the Senior Director must have a strong understanding of the issues they face and how InContext?s solutions can help solve those issues. As such, candidates should have significant experience promoting and encouraging research to assist in decision making. The Senior Director must also have a strong executive presence and be capable of consulting with client partners on their business concerns, identifying ways in which research and analysis can be applied to business questions.
Position Description
In addition, the Senior Director will oversee a research team at our Chicago office. In this capacity, the Senior Director will be responsible for the management, mentorship and deployment of several team members through all phases of the research process including design, execution and analysis. Additionally, he/she will be responsible for leading the development of actionable insights from the results of these projects. At InContext, we live by the rule that information is not insight. Strategic thinking and deadline-driven deliverable creation are equally important in this fast-paced and rapidly growing environment.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum Bachelor Degree (preferably master?s degree) in a Marketing or Social Science related field (with quantitative emphasis) or related degree with emphasis on Statistics or Quantitative Research Methods. We seek a minimum of 7-10 years of business experience that includes independent marketing research from the corporate or vendor side (ideally both).
The candidate must have a strong theoretical and practical knowledge of research design, in particular the ability to turn business problems into researchable questions.
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and analytical skills are also required, specifically:
Demonstrated strategic thinking and a consultative style
Demonstrated concise, effective communication, both spoken and written
Demonstrated ability to form strong working relationships with all levels of customers and co-workers
A track record of assisting with the hiring, training and managing/ mentoring of junior staff
Ability to provide leadership and strategic direction to the unit as appropriate
