About the role
Get Satisfaction is looking for a hands-on TechOps leader in our San Francisco office. This is a very senior and broadly scoped role, that includes the following responsibilities:
Coordinate and collaborate with a self-sufficent director-level DevOps engineer located in Boston. Your job will be to provide technical back up and balance the load. You will also work closely with members of the product, development, QA, and executive staff.
Manage the IT needs of our San Francisco office. This includes day-to-day computing needs, resolving occasional internet connectivity issues, infrequent computer/account setup for new employees, and teardown for departing employees. The solution to these IT tasks may involve outsourced IT service providers, but you must manage that service. How to approach this aspect of the job is up to you.
Manage vendor relationships with a wide variety of technology service providers (everything from system monitoring/alerting/logging, AWS hosting and services, ISPs, Google (analytics, gmail, docs), etc.).
Act as a point of authority on security, operational best practices, disaster recovery, open source software licensing and usage, business intelligence systems, etc. You will apply your expertise internally, as well as providing guidance to prospects (e.g. responding to RFPs), customers (troubleshooting their IT issues), or strategic partners (due diligence).
This is a ?hands-on? role because we are a small team, and you?ll need to pitch in and help on a variety of TechOps fronts. Here are some requirements for that:
While you?re responsible for managing the TechOps function, you still have extensive Linux system administration skills
Fluency is one or more scripting languages
Sharp troubleshooting skills, deductive reasoning and attention to detail
Experience with large-scale consumer applications supporting significant sustained load with high availability and > 99.9x uptime
Solid understanding of fundamental technologies like TCP/IP, HTTPS, DNS, SYSLOG, SSH etc.
MySQL experience including replication and tuning
Knowledgeable about security in the cloud and best practices
Familiar with content delivery networks and caching technologies
